For my first show in Minneapolis, I assembled a series of self-portraits. To do so, since I've never felt able to adequately, artfully describe myself, I asked my friends to email me descriptions of me, in five words or less. These descriptions became search strings for a MAX/Jitter program which downloads and composites the top fifty images from the Google Images database - photographs made and ranked by millions of Internet users. Thus, these collaborative self-portraits also explore popular word / image associations, how meaning translates across the verbal and the visual, and the diversity and dynamics of the Internet.
