Frustrated at the lack of soft furniture and comfortable common space at the sleek new Regis Art Center, I decided to create a plush multipurpose lounge, ideally hoping to foster casual interactions among the University of Minnesota art community. Since various institutional codes prohibit couches - and any non-sterile padded furniture - from the building's common spaces, I obtained permission to assemble a sculptural installation.
The title of my installation: Student Lounge.
